Yesterday was just another ordinary weekend shopping at Giant but not for Iman ... She came home all smile because she had a beauty set and a new teddy bear to play with.
After a short play at the indoor playground Iman directed us to the toy's section. She grabbed one small soft pink gingham teddy bear and then grabbed the beauty set ... also pink ! There....pink...pink...pink... typical girl huh? She just couldn't wait to rip open the beauty set pack. I didn't mind the pink teddy coz it's cute and soft...I rather she have that than the old torn small pooh (she pulled off the red singlet) she adopted from her Aunty Ain. The pooh went where ever Iman went. She clutched it while playing with gym ball...so much for balancing ! The pooh was the loyal company while Iman had her food. Last night at sleeping time she did cry and searched for the old pooh she was attached to lately. Mommy managed to substitute it with the new pink bear... today she accepted the pink bear and didnt searched for the old pooh. Bye bye pooh...actually mommy hid the pooh last night...sorry darling.
Iman enjoyed playing with her beauty set. She is still wearing the pink hairclip from this afternoon till night. She asked me to clipped it on her head. Usually hairclip didnt stay long on her. Well...a girl will be girl...autistic or not, Iman still enjoy the color pink just like any 'normal' typical girl...hhmm :-)
She lost the hairpin in the ball pool at Serdang OCCT room :-( ...
This blog is dedicated to my darling little angel; Nur Iman Zarifah ... Love: MUMMY

Iman's OCCT Theraphy Update
Last week Iman went for her OCCT at Serdang Hospital. She was seen to be getting along well with the young man incharge of her. Saw her holding hand and interacting with him. Before we left, the young man had picked her up (she is 24kg) and came out from the room. She was happy.
This week Iman went for her OCCT at GHKL. At the end of the session the lady incharge of her commented that she improved a lot from the last time she saw Iman. Iman can sit and do the task asked of her but must be rewarded with a quick swinging on the swing after each task. Iman was talking too. Well, that's nice to hear......thank God....always pray for better improvement...ameen.

05 Nov 2012 - Splint off mommy's little finger
Yup....bye bye Zimmer splint.
On 5/11/12 doctor at Ortho Clinic Serdang Hosp said no need to wear the splint anymore and I can start for physio theraphy. Feel weird without the splint and bandage. I have to relearn to use my left hand after resting it for 2 months. From x ray result the hair line crack is still visible, meaning my broken bones not fully healed yet. Given another 2 weeks to rest and a month light duty order. I was scheduled for physio the very next day but the physio therapist just give instruction on how to exercise (slowly) my stiff little finger at home because of the bones not fully healed. Then only I knew that actually the bone was broken in two places. The lastest x ray result done on 5 Nov 2012 showed them clearly. I dont know why they were not clearly seen the previous x ray results. Looking at my finger, a bit swollen and crooked, unbendable, still a bit painful and I am still traumatized by the whole incident...

Mummy's new collection - cast iron cooking pots and pan
Last week daddy agreed to drive mummy to IKEA. Mummy already made a list of things to get for our renovated home including things for Iman like a swing, night light, curtain and matching bedsheet. Few things for the kitchen, table lamps and so forth... I was frusterated the rack which I really wanted for Iman's room was not yet restocked. But mummy was so happy to get all the cast iron casserole pots and pan which I had been dreaming of having all these years. They were blue in color and I was able to get one ceramic serving dish in the matching color. Now I am searching the net on how to handle them and how to cook with them.

Iman and mommy's magazine
Yesterday afternoon, Iman and Mommy spent some quiet moment together. Iman was snuggling with me reading magazine about kitchen. Suddenly Iman grabbed my mag, she was attracted to the cute steam muffin recipe on the mag. Today she did the same when I tried to read the mag again. Quickly she flipped through the mag to the pages and happily looking and counting the cute pictures.

Iman - I am hungry...
Lately we usually had our dinner out at Iman's favorite place, Ice Room. As for tonite since it's been raining almost all day, we planned to eat dinner in. After her bath and as her dad was combing her, Iman hugged daddy and said, "I am hungry". We were so happy to hear that...thought we never heard her said that before. Usually we were the ones to ask whether she was hungry or not and she would only say "yes" or "no" or knoded or shook her head in respond. She sometimes just said "hungry" and rubbed her tummy to show us that she was hungry. As usual she would pull her desk and chair in front of the tv and waited to be serve her favorite menu. I am so happy and hope that she will show more progress in how to express herself...Praying for the best...ameen.

Iman's Room
Mommy and daddy thought it's about time that Iman has her own room and sleeping in it...meaning sleeping alone by herself. Since the house is under renovation, we thought it is the best time to move Iman into her own room when we move back in the house. But mommy sure to miss her snuggling close to mommy...hhmmm.
Well the worry was how to decorate the room. In other words the room best suited for an autistic toddler girl. Actually at first we forgotten about the autistic part while planning Iman's room. After buying the paint then mommy started browsing the net about the subject....Oh my....We had overlooked lots of things ....room color? sensory room? decoration? noise? lighting? From dark pink and light purple to turqoise .... hope she'll comfortable in that color.... Hhmmm...now I am really worried about Iman not wanting to sleep in her room let alone being in there ...alone...Whatever it is...mommy promise to try mommy's best .... pray everything goes well....

Ìman & Gym Ball
Last month Mummy bought a gym ball from Cosway. The RM40 investment was worth a million... Iman was there helping daddy pumping it also telling daddy to pump it faster... Since then... bouncing..and bouncing...all the time...burning her extra energy...trying new ways of using the ball. Iman was having so much fun with the ball. Mummy can only borrow it when she's not around. Atleast less jumping on our ageing bed...

Iman & Giraffe
To kill time while I am on medical leave, I just browsed the net. Found people selling this cute giraffe toy's rack. I thought what a good and cute way to keep Iman toys. Since I am not much of an online shopper, I searched more for shop selling it. Yes...found one and more...the price offered was cheaper and I don't have to wait for it to be delivered.
So daddy and mummy bought one for Iman. My sister also asked me to get one for her twin. Iman was excited while daddy was busy putting it together. "My giraffe !" heard her saying with a grin on her cute face. But we need more than one giraffe...

Iman vs Toilet Training
07 Oct 2012 - Toilet Training ? Nightmare to some parents... Not an easy task what more with an autistic child who is not much good at expressing herself.... Yup, Iman is not toilet trained yet..... we had been trying alright. It is quite difficult to get her to tell us she needed to use the toilet. Today is more successful than yesterday. Yup... there was big accident yesterday. Today.... no accident at all. She even told us 'bathroom' when she needed to go. Yes....success. And it just the beginning...

Mummy's Lunch Box
For about 2 weeks now mummy's been having lunch 'fresh' out of the box into the microwave. I am not discussing about nutrition or preservatives here....please...with one hand free and alone I am literally useless in the kitchen. Daddy, afraid of finding my dead starving body when he came home from work decided to stock the fridge with microwaveable frozen food. Not saying that they are off my favorite menu but I survive...
Here is an example of my many 'tasty' lunch gourmet:

Iman vs Homemade Ice Cream
Since Iman would get allergic reaction whenever she ate milk/cream ice cream based, I started to make her fruit juice ice cream/popsicle at home...she liked ribena icecicle best...
Helping My Little Bones
I was worried as the doctor said healing process might be slow since fingers are never stay put...well that's what they do best...help with movement... I decided to help...how? drinking milk (never like taking it), eat cheese and swallowed calcium pill...hhmmm
31 Aug 2012 - Little Finger vs Oblique Fracture
31 Aug 2012 - Morning - Mummy's left little finger was fractured...broken....ouch it's hurt okay... How it had happened ? Go ask Daddy !!
Daddy did his best to ease my pain and hurt....he did try to bundle it up with bandage...we thought it was just a sprain case ....
I was in pain all nite....
Next morning, I had to unwrapped it and I believed it was broken... Bandage off...the little guy: swollen...fat... as an ex-red cresent officer during my college years, I am sure it's broken. Later from an x ray image done at a clinic...confirmed...an oblique fracture. The lady doctor said she would refer me to any hospital of my choice for a splint which her clinic lack of. Serdang Hospital was chosen and off we go. Since it was a public holiday (Saturday), we had to go through the emergency counter instead of the ortho clinic... While waiting to called at triage I just leaned my head against the wall watching sick/injured people passing by....then not sure why I turned my head to look at the wall I just rest my head against...gosh...there ...blood stained on the wall ? Then I quickly shift seat...my eyes caught few drops of red stains on the floor ...my ...my...I just want to get out of there. I did...when as if reading my silence prayer, daddy suggested that we should move to a private hospital. At last I got my finger splinted...Thanks alot...
A day after that we went back to Serdang Hospital with refernce letter from the private hospital....ortho specialist sent me home with medical leave for 36 days and supply of painkiller...another x-ray will be done after that 36 days rest hopefully my bones mended nicely.
Few times Iman did run into my poor finger not on purpose of coz...she did try to say sorry with kisses on my cheek or cried and made me hugged her....being autistic as she is, she did understand that her doing had hurt me and try to mend it...in other words she understood other people's feeling and she could communicate !

Early Morning Case - Spice
2:00 am / 07 Sep 2012
Quietly Iman prepared a mixture of spice from my spice collection. Emptied a bottle of cooking oil and spices...tamarind....assam gelugur...salt...etc....my black pepper given by a Sarawakian also not spared. The smell like House of Spice...Till the next morning she's still cough and sneeze...runny nose. Daddy's blood pressure shoot up...mummy was trying hard to control not to smile openly... Luckily daddy was on leave that day to do the clean up....mummy was on medical leave....what a waste...we should have a bbq that day...

Port Dickson Again: Selesa Beach Resort (27 - 28 Nov 2011)
For the long weekends (Maal Hijrah Hol) we went to Port Dickson...again but stayed at different resort - Selesa Beach Resort. I prefer this place than the place we stayed at the previous time - Corrus. However, the check in time was terrible...we had to wait for quite some times before we allowed in the room. Funny the check out time is at 12.00 noon and the check in time is at 3.00pm... we were there a little after 3.00pm and we had to WAIT ! Dinner was not fun either... the resort only serve nasi goreng and some few other menus... what a let down.
The sun was blazing hot. After the fun at the beach Iman plunged in the hotel's pool.
Breakfast was worst... Iman (as usual) started her siren when we were about to settle down for breakfast...reason: she saw the POOL just outside the dining room... there goes the wailing/crying/screaming...that's normal actually...hmmm. At last I had my breakfast first while Iman and daddy went up back to the room in hope to calm her down. She was still crying and refused to eat when I went up to the room. What to do? I just ignore her tantrum...
But after this trip Iman was burnt badly...till now the skin at corner of her left still peel when the weather is hot and dry. Remedy: virgin coconut oil. The skin specialist said that's normal for people with eczema.

Iman: Acute Tonsiliti... 04-06 March 2012 - Segamat Hospital
On the 4th of March 2012 Iman was warded for the first time this year. She was down with high fever (40 deg C), refused to eat, drink (not even milk) not active and even didn't have the energy to play her tab (her favorite toy for the time being). She just laid down... so sad to watch her. We were visiting my mum at that time. She was treated with penicillin. The only problem when it came for the nurses to take her blood pressure and temperature... she would cry... the practical nurses waited on her patiently but ended up getting nothing. The only complain I had was Iman was given a baby cot as they claimed she was only four not like Serdang hospital, Iman was given single bed because of her size not because of her age... with baby cot, I surely having backache ...hmmm. The children ward was also stuffy and the cleanliness was questionable. Frankly I prefer Serdang ward.
That's what it was... |
Three people plus mummy were needed to insert this and she was bundled with blanket. |
She was feeling better |
